This song was the released as the second from the album in 1987. It reached No. 1 in New Zealand, South Africa and Canada, No. 3 in the Netherlands, No. 5 in France, No. 6 in the United Kingdom and Australia, No. 11 in Ireland and No. 17 in the United States and Sweden.
The Sebastian Cork franchise has installed "Beds Are Burning" several times. The first time this song has been used was during the first film, and later during a season 2 episode of The New Adventures of Sebastian Cork.
